The History of Stabila
Even though STABILA wasn’t officially registered until 1929, it was in 1865 when the founder’s uncle, Anton Ullrich, began production of folding rules, a tremendous industry breakthrough at the time. A patent regarding a spring-loaded joint for folding rules was produced in 1886, introducing the world to the folding rule as we know it today.

It wasn’t until 1979 that STABILA passed a patent that gave spirit levels their life-long accuracy through their locked vials – a patent unsurpassed even today.
